How Does an Industrial Air Source Heat Pump Work?

In basic terms, an industrial air source heat pump absorbs the heat from the outside air, and uses that to power radiators, hot water taps, and under floor heating.

What happens is that the heat from the air is absorbed at a low temperature into a fluid, which then passes through a compressor – this is really the only place that there is an energy cost. This compressor increases the heat and sends it to the heating and hot water system to provide reliable heat.

The heat produced is generally safer as the radiators get less hot – and there is no gas so there is no risk of explosion or carbon emission leaks.

An industrial heat pump is so efficient that it can still provide heat, even if the temperature drops as low as -15 degrees, and it can provide cooling in the warmer months, too.

The biggest effect for business owners is that your business will be less reliant on fossil fuels through electricity suppliers as 75% of the energy needed comes from the environment. Added to this, there are systems that allow any unused heat to be able to be ‘sold’ back to the grid so you can make money on heat that you create but do not use. Your customers are becoming more and more aware of the impact of fossil fuels on the environment and having an industrial air pump is something that you can use to demonstrate your ‘green’ credentials.

Industrial Air Source Heat Pump: Simple Installation, Reduced Downtime

To take advantage of an industrial heat pump that takes energy from the environment, all you need is a large wall, in a bright, sunny spot. This can be on the ground floor and can even be effective at height if your business is on the first floor or higher, too.

To make the most of the heat provided by the industrial air source heat pump, you will want to make sure that you have adequate insulation – but when you meet the team here at Batchelor, we will be able to advise you on any steps that you need to take.

Industrial Heat Pumps – The Commercial Solution to Temperature Controlling Your Premises

Very few business leaders go ahead with a major plant overhaul to their business premises without considering the option of including the most up-to-date technology. A new heating system for a factory or warehouse can be a considerable ongoing expense. In 2022, some companies, relying on gas prices to be a manageable running cost, found themselves out of business due to the unprecedented hike in wholesale gas prices. Today’s risk assessments for those wanting a new heating system will include an element of deliberation over future energy prices.

This analysis could, of course, be the reason you are looking at heat pumps for industries. If this is the case, you have found a potential solution in Batchelor Air Conditioning & Refrigeration.

Upgrading to a Large Industrial Heat Pump is Today’s Growing Choice

There are several different types of industrial heat pumps available. To determine the most suitable for any premises will depend on the type of building, the existing climate and whether the installation is for a new building and has surrounding land. This is why the most used, particularly for an existing building, are air source, followed by ground and then water sourced pumps. Effectively a heat pump operates similar to a fridge compressor, but in reverse. The system has no energy consumption apart from the electricity supply to power the units and operate the management systems. The energy savings are impressive and the units require a minimum of maintenance to keep them running at an optimum performance level.

Large industrial heat pumps are quickly becoming the system of choice for today’s CEOs.
